Really appreciated the support last year with the ladder trucks for our 9/11 ceremony at the high school. If possible we would love to have your support again. This years ceremony will be at 8:00 AM on Monday the 11th of September. If you could support with at least one ladder truck and fly the flag as you did last year it would be awesome. We would like to have the truck posted and ready by 7:45 AM for at 8:00 AM ceremony start time. SPD and IWC Sheriffs office are supporting and we'd love to have all our first responders participate. Thanks for what you do. Stay and Be Safe!!

This is a great fire department all great guys working there as volunteers my son Stephen is one of them he's been there since he was 13 or 14 years old as a junior volunteer firefighter and he earned all kinds of awards and I am very proud of him as a police fire rescue dispatcher and Sheriff's Department dispatcher with Isle of Wight County in Smithfield. And now has become a deputy sheriff in Isle of Wight County. Proud of all that he is done for the community and his friends so I'm thinking the Smithfield Fire Department for making him for who he is today. Thanks Larry Peed

Hi I'm a retired firefighter and I've written some fire short stories. The trailer to Engine 24 Fire Stories can be seen on youtube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wE-ZTpAlMJU. I thought that if you liked the trailer you might consider running it on your site. The NYFD.com site liked it so much they put it on their front page as a courtesy to me.
You can see it at www.nyfd.com.

Thank you for your consideration

I was looking for two members who were friends with my hubby. Spencer and Slick. Do I have the right department? I didn't realize that my kids didn't remember their dad being on this FD,and this was his favorite. I think they called my hub "Hillbilly."

Just found out about a wonderful benefit of the fire dept, they will come and change smoke alarm batteries that are difficult to reach at no charge, however since this is a VONUNTEER fire dept and can always use donations, please make one when you use this service. remember, to call in a handyman or electrician would be average of 60.00 per hour, so be generous to the people that are taking risks for you on a daily basis. I personally am not comfortable climbing ladders over 6 ft, and am thrilled to know this is available.

The website looks great. Does the SVFD perform Fire Safety or Prevention classes for the community? If so, would someone from the SVFD be interested in giving some mini classes at our Spring Family Yard Sale at Red Oak Mobile Community on April 14, 2012? Let us know. We have plenty of room for you to set up a table with some brochures and talk with the chidlren and adults. Let me know! Thanks and Be Safe Out There! :)
