While the 3/15 departmental training was winding down, SVFD was dispatched at 2049hrs with other companies for a trash truck on fire at Isle of Wight Transportation. Upon arrival crews had the cargo bed fully involved, a quick knockdown was made and the incident was scaled back.
While crews were finalizing operations an auto fire was reported in the parking lot of Smithfield Packing on North Church St. E53 went on location with a fire in the engine compartment. The fire was quickly extinguished by the crew of E53. A EMS assist was also handled by Station 50 during these incidents.
